[TWI Serveradmins] RO2 Required Update Coming Soon

Eric,

We've mentioned many times both before and since the release of the game
that a Linux server release is still a possibility, but that there weren't
currently plans to do it in the near term. I'm not sure how that is leaving
things "glooming in the dark". The reality of game development is that
plans sometimes need to change. I know it is easy to take a very narrow
view of these things when as a consumer you get focused on one thing that
you want (like a Linux server build). Unlike our competitors, we don't have
a 200-500 person team working on our game. So we have to allocate our staff
wisely where we can get the most bang for the buck. For us higher priority
things have been fixing bugs, improving performance, getting the mod tools
in the public's hands and more. Doing a Linux build while iterating on
those things would have easily doubled the amount of time that it took to
complete.

So once again, we may at some point put out a Linux server build when it
makes sense for us. For now we're going to be focusing on other more
pressing things, like keeping our game playing cyst omers happy.

Is what John Gibson said in the past, too bad his statement or effort
has changed. Would be nice to have a heads up on those things instead
of glooming in the dark.

There is no current plan for a linux build.  We are focusing on some big
game updates that everyone will hear more about soon.
